Beginning in 1961, he taught Civics and History at Wm. C. Taylor High School. Mr. Berlack, a minister, was founder and pastor of Great Hope Baptist Church in Richmond.

Biography

Freeman R. Berlack, born 1908 in Florida, arrived in Morgantown for the 1955-56 term. He attended Hampton Institute and was a graduate of Virginia Union University. Mr. Berlack worked diligently with the community and county boards towards the addition of the second classroom. He boarded at the Hughes home in Morgantown. His family visited Morgantown for special school and community events. Mr. Berlack completed three terms in Morgantown before reassignment to the Routts Hill School, in Remington which he said put him 25 miles closer to his home in Richmond.



There he boarded at the Weaver home. Beginning in 1961, he taught Civics and History at Wm. C. Taylor High School. Mr. Berlack, a minister, was founder and pastor of Great Hope Baptist Church in Richmond. He passed away in January 1982.
